Jobling Purser

Jobling Purser develops and produces a wide range of specialist highway products. We apply our knowledge of asphalt manufacture, bitumen formulation, and resin technology to a variety of industry sectors. Our products are installed across the UK and overseas. In this specialised field, Jobling Purser are leading the way.

We are a family owned and run business with a trading history which reaches back to the 1830’s. The first trading records show activity in North African phosphate and manganese, which were sold as fertiliser and colouring agents for glass. Over the years the business has continually moved forward. In the 1860’s oil and grease production was introduced into the business portfolio. In the 1920’s we were one of the first companies in the UK to begin the manufacture bitumen emulsions. In 2000 we ventured into asphalt and coated stone production and in 2012 invested in a brand new state of the art Benninghoven asphalt plant, which is based on the same site as our manufacturing base on the banks of the river Tyne in Newcastle upon Tyne. Building on the success of the asphalt plant in Newcastle we expanded further into the asphalt market. In 2017 we added another brand new state of the art Benninghoven asphalt plant to our portfolio. Located at Hespin Wood north of Carlisle . This next generation asphalt plant has a larger capacity than its sister plant and enables us to provide a variety of quality and innovative solutions for our customers.

Our compact size and integrated company structure enables a full service partnership approach to working with our customers. It means we look for the bigger picture when analysing our customers' needs, providing them with practical, achievable solutions. As a privately owned and operated company, free from the short-term demands of shareholders, we take quality seriously and strive to deliver Best Value to our customers. This customer-driven, flexible approach is also demonstrated by our ability to react quickly to specific customer demands, it also enables us to innovate and introduce new products and processes into the marketplace.

The key to our success over the years, and what we continue to strive for today, is providing quality products with a service and technical excellence which is unrivalled within the industry.

Armaphalt from Jobling Purser

Quicksetts

Quicksetts™ from Jobling Purser – Looks like a traditional granite sett but can be applied and opened to traffic within hours.

In many historic towns and cities, clients are looking for paving materials which compliment these heritage areas whilst being hard wearing enough to withstand modern day traffic volumes. Historically granite setts have been the favoured choice but this has always come with lengthy road closures which can run from months into years for larger schemes.

Not anymore. Quicksetts™ (patent pending) from Jobling Purser are the modern day solution. Aesthetically they fit with any heritage area but the key is in the speed of application. Rather than removing the existing surface, Quicksetts™ can be adhered directly on to any existing sound, asphalt or concrete surface allowing large areas to be treated in a day and opened to traffic, thus significantly reducing inconvenience to road users and disruption to local business on the High Street.

Our Quicksett™ resin, based on polyurethane technology, has been specifically designed to offer excellent adhesive properties whilst the Quicksetts™ (patent pending), themselves are moulded blocks incorporating granite and where appropriate, bauxite chippings which offer comparable or better, skid resistance properties than other forms of modular paving.

Quicksetts™ can be used as traffic calming, boundary marking, edge detailing and decorative paving solutions.

Quicksetts™ (patent pending) offer an attractive, practical answer to traditional paving for town and city centre planers tasked with maintaining our historic assets.
